Red (A Poem)

I didn’t realize it until now, but if I said I didn’t mean this in a sexual sense, you’d believe me…right? Right…???

Prompt 5 – Speed

Red
Run little girl, run.
As fast as you can.
How far can you go
before I swallow you whole?

You can’t keep running,
but I can follow.
It’ll take just one bite…
you should’ve stayed home tonight.

The red gives you up.
I can see you fine.
My teeth, how they ache
to clench down and make bones break.

You’ll never make it.
Grandma’s gotta wait.
I’ll go eat her too,
but not before I get you.

How dare you run off!
If I can’t get you now,
a small change won’t hurt.
I can just make you dessert.

Run to that small house.
Grandma won’t be there.
But I will for sure
and I’ll be ready for more.

Tell me….what story is this based off of?
